Dear Visitors,
Welcome to the stay at home dads blog. This being the first entry, I will keep it short. Being a SAHD since my daughter was born has been the most rewarding and challenging experience. I saw a report that there were only 160,000 of us, and while searching the internet for information I found there really is very few resources. My first search found stupid jokes about dads being incapable of properly caring for children and daily chores (sniffing clothes and running them through the dryer, putting down drop cloths and letting the kids go naked). Just look at publications like american baby ("MOM TO MOM. WOMAN TO WOMAN."), babytalk ("STRAIGHT TALK FOR NEW MOMS"), and Parenting (What really matters to moms). The articles in these magazines are really good and i admit I read them regularly, but I do have to mentally change the wording of most articles to dad or him/his. And sometimes I have to put the book down out of fustration. My "Top Ten Stress Relief Tips" don't include bubble baths, cross stiching, or shopping, and my idea of a "Dream Getaway" is Wrigley Field bleachers with a beer, not wine tasting in Napa Valley. This is already longer than I thought it would be, and the baby just woke up and is starting to entice me into a game of peek-a-boo. My hopes for the future are being a good source of information for other SAHDs and a place to vent once in a while. Later, athomedaddy
